History in the Making

The late, great Stephen Hawking stated that; "The past, like the future, is indefinite and exists only as a spectrum of possibilities".  This week Challenge students have been looking into some of those possibilities in rather less distant History.
Challenge 1 group were given the task of re-enacting the Battle of Hastings in 1066 in order to consolidate their learning about battle strategies and the 'hows, whys and what ifs' of William The Conqueror's successful campaign for the English throne.
Students performed an English shield wall, as William's archers and cavalry attempted to break their line.   They enjoyed it a lot more than the original soldiers must have done and it was a History lesson they won't forget!
