Global Issues, Global Outlook

Extra-Curricular groups can be a gateway to looking at the world beyond one's doorstep so learning about global issues and global solutions with a practical view makes perfect sense for the Volunteering Group.
Students in Challenge Volunteering have been investigating issues which impact their lives and those of their global peer group, including environmental concerns such as climate change, pollution and global warming, and poverty and youth unemployment.
They then looked at some ways to try to combat these factors by examining the importance of charitable organisations and volunteering in communities, which some of them have done away from school and in previous volunteering groups at Route 39.
Students assessed the importance of the issues which they had examined by organising them into pyramid diagrams and identifying ways to make a difference themselves.  We are looking forward to seeing them, and other student groups, getting stuck in to some projects soon!
