Route 39 Academy provides a range of safeguarding policies to enable the Academy to operate efficiently. They also ensure that parents, students and staff know what to expect from the Academy and in return what the Academy needs from them. 

All policies are agreed by the Governing Body and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain effective and conform to current Government legislation.

Please note parents and carers may request a paper copy of any of our policies. Paper copies will be provided free of charge.

Child Protection / Safeguarding 

Route 39 Academy fully recognises its responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. Route 39 Academy is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors, and to promoting a climate where children and adults feel confident about sharing any concerns, which they may have about their own safety, or the well-being of others. Please note that this policy is awaiting ratification at the next governing body meeting in December 2018.

Behaviour and Discipline 

Misbehaviour is not the breaking of a rule, but the breaking of a social bond. As such, we believe that positive relationships are the key to ensuring that everyone in our community is able to work to their full potential and enjoy being here.  Our behaviour policy reflects our core ethos of ENGAGE - RESPECT - ASPIRE.

Our academy endeavours to ensure that we do our utmost to employ ‘safe’ staff and volunteers to work with children.

Complaints

This complaints procedure describes how anyone with a complaint can set about having the complaint dealt with.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

The Academy is committed to providing a safe environment and recognises its responsibility to promote a culture where Health, Safety and Wellbeing issues are discussed in an open and positive way to achieve improved standards and safe methods of work.

Sex and Relationships

At Route 39 Academy we support the belief that ‘effective sex and relationship education is essential if young people are to make responsible and well informed decisions about their lives’ and that it should not be taught in isolation. 

Prevention of Bullying

The aim of this policy is to clarify for students, staff and parents/carers that bullying behaviour is always unacceptable. We wish to encourage an environment where independence is celebrated and individuals can flourish without fear.

Staff Code of Conduct

Staff must comply with requirements placed on them by their contract of employment, conditions of service and  Academy’s  Articles of Association. The Code is supplementary to documents detailing terms and conditions of employment, including statutory provisions, issued at the time of appointment.

Whistleblowing

In the event that members of Academy staff, parents, governors or the Academy community at large become aware of activities which give cause for concern, Route 39 Academy has established the following whistleblowing policy.
